The Vega Baja Sostenible Consortium has organized for next Thursday, June 27, in the auditorium of La Lonja de Orihuela, the technical conference ‘Waste Management, A Common Strategy’, with the aim of improving the training and training of technicians, councilors and social agents. The appointment will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Given the regulatory changes that have taken place, this day aims to outline the new European regulatory framework for waste with an impact on local administration. In addition, it is planned to present the review of the Integral Waste Plan of the Valencian Region and highlight, on the one hand, a project of the Polytechnic and Higher School of Orihuela (EPSO) to address the problem of floating waste in the Segura River and , on the other, experiences in the field of management and valuation of the organic fraction from the local level.
The day will be opened by the president of the Consortium, Manuel Pineda, together with the technician of the environmental communication service for the zonal plan 11-A6, Pedro Berenguer. It will also have four presentations that will be divided into a first on the European regulatory framework, whose rapporteur will be the head of waste management service of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment, Climate Change and Rural Development of the Generalitat, Emili Gombau.
The second presentation will be in charge of the Director General of Climate Change and Environmental Quality, Joan Piquer, who will explain the new Integral Waste Plan of the Valencian Community. For its part, the Director of the Water and Energy research group for Sustainable Agriculture of the Miguel Hernández University (UMH), Herminia Puerto, will discuss the issue of floating waste in the Segura River and its irrigation infrastructure in the Vega Baja .
Finally the Manager of the Consortium for the Management of Waste V5 – COR, Sergi Pérez, will explain the management of bio-waste for the fulfillment of the 2020 objectives, as well as practical cases on the possible implementation of the management and recovery of the organic fraction by the Consortium and municipalities.
