The Consorcio Vega Baja Sostenible shows its disagreement with the price increase made to the municipalities of the province of Alicante and, in particular, to those of the region for the management of bulky waste. A recent decision that has been taken unilaterally with the fiscal year started by the company’s management facilities based in Novelda.
The president of the institution, Manuel Pineda, has come out of this situation and has indicated that he will ask the Consortium to study the authorization of a budget line of aid for the municipalities of the Vega Baja that need funds to respond to this increase in costs.
The installation of Novelda is having “management problems”, according to the general director of Climate Change and Environmental Quality, Joan Piquer, who says that in the last two summers the noveldense plant has suffered fires and that the Generalitat “will ensure that the prices charged by the municipal management services, really apply in improvements of the management of the facilities “. In addition, Piquer himself has reported that from the regional institution is conducting a review of the integrated environmental authorization, to determine if the treatments of waste for which currently pay the municipalities of the province of Alicante are appropriate.
Pineda explained that the Consortium has an “important remnant of treasury, which is available to municipalities, provided that this is authorized by the technicians of the Provincial Council of Alicante, which are the same as the Consortium, with the required reports favorable viability and legality “. A measure that could “alleviate the burden of possible cost overruns of equipment management”, has qualified the president of the entity, who added that “it is time to invest in the region to improve waste management to help the citizens of all municipalities, leaving the political partisanship and allocating from the Consortium economic items of expenditure for specific problems such as this “. In this same sense, the mayor of Rafal has indicated that “I will propose to the government commission and the technicians the adoption of this measure as soon as possible with the objective that it be approved diligently, given that the entity is available of the municipalities and the citizens of the Vega Baja “, he clarified.
Without private initiative, for now
Also the head of the Consortium recalled that the remainder of the institution must be added the 850,000 euros of investment planned by the Generalitat Valenciana and could reduce to zero the costs of depreciation of waste transfer stations planned for the Vega Baja. In this sense Manuel Pineda has indicated that the technical bases of the institution that manages the waste of the region of Vega Baja are approved “for months and no private initiative has been presented for the individualized management of bulky items”. This indicates, “as we defended, that we need to stimulate from the public to implement viable public, mixed or private initiatives in the field of management of appliances and bulky,” said Pineda, who added that “if no initiative is presented any private for this area, we will have to agree on a public or mixed action in this regard.
