The contribution of kilos per inhabitant and year increases in 2018 one point with respect to 2017 and almost all municipalities improve their figures
The Vega Baja Sostenible Consortium has compiled the data of sleective collection of paper and cardboard as well as light packaging. The 27 municipalities of the region have increased the recycling of this waste and are becoming aware every year, since from 2015 to 2018 there has been an increase of 852,256 kilos that have been recycled more than light packaging and 600,184 kilos of paper and paperboard.
The contribution of kilos per inhabitant and year increases in 2018 one point with respect to the previous year and almost all municipalities improve their figures, which can be consulted on the Consortium’s website: http://www.consorciovegabajasostenible.com/datos- of recycling/. In total, 2,486,603 kilos of light packaging and 3,571,584 kilos of paper and cardboard were recycled in the region last year.
Likewise, the municipalities that recycle the most in 2018 are those with the largest population, which have increased recycling such as Orihuela with 611,840 kilos of containers and 656,580 kilos of paper and cardboard, or Torrevieja that has recycled 495,760 kilos of containers and 1,249,165 kilos of paper and paperboard. In this sense
The region of Vega Baja is still below the average of the Valencian Community in recycling, but the data improves every year and the objective is to achieve the objectives set by the European Union. In this sense, the president of the Vega Baja Sustainable Consortium, Manuel Pineda, has valued the data in a positive way since “we improve globally and this means that we are on the right path, that is why it is important to insist on awareness and awareness for that more and more are the neighbors who recycle. ”
Currently, a mobile eco-park runs through all the municipalities in the region to deposit those waste that can not be deposited in conventional containers. In this ecopark you can take pillar, oils, electronic material, among other waste. Through the Consortium’s website there is a section where you can check what waste to take to the eco-park and the calendar to see what day the installation will be located in each municipality.
Pineda said that “the goal is to add, and this is achieved through actions of all kinds, with the mobile eco-park, awareness campaigns, conferences, talks, among other actions, so that we recycle more each time”. In this sense the president has also advanced that “an important part of waste management is done by the municipalities themselves and the data shows that almost all increase recycling, so it is important to continue in this line and in the next few years continue with actions at local level, introducing environmental educators and other initiatives that are already marked by the Comprehensive Waste Plan “.
