The president of the Vega Baja Sustainable Consortium, Manuel Pineda, has appeared today at a press conference with the vice president and mayor of Dolores, Joaquín Hernández, to take stock of the last year of the mandate “in which it has been achieved that there is transparency in the management and that citizens feel this body as something useful and close, ”said the mayor of Rafal, Manuel Pineda.
During this last year, several milestones have been achieved, including the beginning of the adaptation of the land where the future Dolores transfer plant will be located, as well as the final approval of the Vega Baja mobile ecoparks management project. In this sense, Pineda stressed that “the launch of the first mobile ecopark of the Consortium is a very important milestone, now it will be necessary to increase this mobile park to provide greater service to the population and increase recycling rates.”
Likewise, visits to the mobile ecopark have reached 1,304 people, who have made 5,535 contributions with a total of 11,879.04 kilos. The waste that has been most received has been small appliances, batteries, fluorescent and energy saving light bulbs.
The main objective of the Vega Baja Sustainable Consortium “was from the outset to change the perception that citizens had of the Consortium and move towards a more transparent and clean waste management,” said the president, who added that “both objectives are they have complied and we hope that it will continue along the same line to increase the Consortium’s mobile park and finish the Dolores transfer plant ”. In this direction, the president of the entity that brings together the 27 municipalities of the Vega Baja has argued that his mandate at the head of the Vega Baja Sustainable Consortium concludes with “an entity that is healthy both from an economic and political point of view, after a dark time of great convulsions, and a management so suspicious that the consortium was audited more by the police than its own administration department. ”
Pineda recalled that we must also highlight the Consortium Communication Plan, through which environmental educators have toured the 27 municipalities of the region with street marketing actions. The number of people reached has been 15,000, and 11,100 information leaflets on the Consortium and waste recycling have been delivered. Assumism has been carried out an informative day and a more technical one to deal with current regulations on waste. The president of the Consortium has also wanted to remember the agreement signed with the Miguel Hernández University (UMH), “a very important agreement through which we can count on the research work of an institution like the university to carry out more exhaustive analysis regarding the waste treatment and recovery, ”said Pineda.
Solidarity between municipalities
For his part, the vice president of the Vega Baja Sustainable Consortium, Joaquín Hernández, explained that what the works of the transfer plant are “has been carried out the adaptation of the plot and also the roads”. Hernández has highlighted “the solidarity” that all the municipalities of the region have to have so that less and less waste is destined to other consortiums of the Valencian Community.
In addition, the recently announced budgets of the Generalitat Valenciana corresponding to the year 2020 contemplate an item of one million euros. The most important of all the consortium entities of the Valencian Community.
